About
Led by Hong Kong Ballet soloist Jeremy Chan, lead character at Dunhuang and PURE Fitness instructor Eddie Villanueva
Join Hong Kong Ballet soloist Jeremy Chan to discover HKB’s epic new Dunhuang: In Search of Light at this imaginative workshop inspired by the production’s themes of transformation, discovery and compassion. Participants will be introduced to the story of a young man and his journey toward inner growth and enlightenment, guided by celestial beings known as feitian (flying apsaras) and learn about the show’s original choreography, vibrant main characters and elegant costumes.
Throughout the workshop, Eddie Villanueva, Senior Dance Instructor at PURE, will ensure participants explore the movements safely and confidently. Eddie will provide individual, live feedback, assist with technique refinement and help every participant get the most out of the experience in a supportive and engaging environment.
There will be special emphasis on expressive artistry, like shaping graceful arms inspired by the feitian’s floating movements, responding to music creatively and experimenting with changing movement dynamics. Additionally, participants will learn foundational classical ballet positions, simple choreography and fundamental arm, head and body coordination with Jeremy and perform everything they have learned on the final day.
But this is much more than a dance workshop. Participants will also enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience by attending a dress rehearsal of Dunhuang: In Search of Light on 15 October 2026, alongside Eddie, offering a unique glimpse into the artistic process. The experience continues with a memorable night out, where participants will attend a live performance of the production (16-18 October 2026) with Eddie and witness Jeremy bringing the story to life on stage*. Combining elegant ballet technique with compelling storytelling and exclusive access to the world of Hong Kong Ballet, this lively and interactive programme is a welcoming opportunity to experience Dunhuang’s beauty, emotion and visual richness firsthand.
