Alignment 1
An asana practice that explores the poses (asanas) through clear and intelligent alignment, building strength and ultimately creating a thorough understanding of each pose. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included. Suitable for students with some yoga experience looking to have an invigorating physical and mental practice. Fundamental standing poses and seated poses with some basic backbends and preparations for inversion poses are taught.
Alignment 2
An asana practice that explores the poses (asanas) through clear and intelligent alignment, building strength and ultimately creating a thorough understanding of each pose. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included. Suitable for intermediate yoga practitioners with a consistent practice. This class builds on the necessary body stability acquired in Level 1 Alignment classes to take on more challenging asanas and sequences. Full inversions, arm balances and backbends may be included in this class.
Alignment 3
An asana practice that explores the poses (asanas) through clear and intelligent alignment, building strength and ultimately creating a thorough understanding of each pose. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included. Suitable for students with a consistent Level 2/3 practice who have the necessary body stability and awareness to take on Level 3 asanas. This class will include longer timings for key poses. A clear understanding of the fundamental alignments and the ability to perform headstand, shoulderstand, kick to handstand at the wall, and push into Urdhva Dhanurasana with straight arms is necessary to attend this class.
Alignment Mixed
A bridging and inclusive class between Alignment 1 and Alignment 2, this practice explores the poses (asanas) through clear and intelligent alignment, building strength and ultimately creating a thorough understanding of each pose. The sequences in this class provide options for students of different levels, allowing them to practise together in a gratifying shared experience. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included. Suitable for students with consistent Alignment 1 or Alignment 2 practice. Full inversions may be introduced with options for various levels of practitioners. Not appropriate for beginners.
