Syllabus

 

Day 1 & 3: Standing poses, twists and forward bends with a chair

  • Foundation of the lower body
  • Stability and flexibility of the lower back, hips, legs, ankles and feet
  • Teaching practice

 

Day 2 & 4: Backbends and shoulder opening with a chair

  • Anatomy of back bending
  • Foundation of the upper body
  • Stability and flexibility of the thoracic and cervical spine, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and skull
  • Sequencing with props including the yoga wall and how to tailor for specific physical conditions
  • Teaching practice

 

Day 5: Practicing yoga with a chair for aging people and people with movement limitations

  • Foundations of a prop-based practice and how to access its therapeutic benefits
  • Teaching practice

 

Day 6: Restoratives and pranayama with a chair

  • Fundamental restorative poses integrating the use of a chair
  • Teaching practice

Tin-Ming Lau
Tin-Ming is an experienced yoga teacher who has been exploring the connection between body, breath, and mind for many years. He is grateful to have learned from renowned teachers and incorporates the use of props to enhance the body-mind connection in yoga. With passion and compassion, Tin-Ming teaches various styles of yoga, empowering students to find a balance between discipline and playfulness and embrace their strengths. Since 2019, he has been organising yoga training to share his knowledge and teachings.
