This comprehensive course delves into the principles of prop-based, therapeutic yoga, guiding you to master the effective use of the yoga wall for enhanced support and alignment in a wide range of asanas. Each session features expert-led asana practices that emphasize creative approaches to the yoga wall, while offering clear instruction on prop usage and accessible modifications for all levels.

 

You will learn expertly crafted sequences – both on and off the wall – designed to restore health, flexibility, and vitality. Each sequence is thoroughly explored with step-by-step breakdowns, insightful variations, and collaborative discussions on effective hands-on assistance.

 

Gain confidence in diverse teaching methodologies, learning how to communicate and transmit your knowledge with clarity and inspiration. Special emphasis is placed on the transformative effects of inversions using the yoga wall, ensuring you create a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment for every student.

Syllabus

Day 1 & 3: Standing poses, twists and forward bends on the yoga wall
• Anatomy of breathing as it pertains to the yoga wall
• Foundations of the lower body
• Stability and flexibility of the lower back, hips, legs, ankles and feet
• Introducing the yoga wall (the dos and don’ts)
• Teaching practices

 

Day 2 & 4: Backbends on the yoga wall
• Anatomy of backbending
• Foundations of the upper body
• Stability and flexibility of the thoracic and cervical spine, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and skull
• Sequencing with props including the yoga wall and how to tailor them for specific physical conditions
• Teaching practices

 

Day 5: Inversions on the yoga wall
• Anatomy of inversions
• Foundations of a prop-based practice and how to access its therapeutic benefits
• Teaching practices

 

Day 6: Restoratives on the yoga wall
• Fundamental restorative poses integrating the yoga wall
• Teaching practices

Full Training (Total 50.0 hours – include 45.0 hours contact hour and 5.0 hours of home workshop/self-study)

Tin-Ming Lau
Tin-Ming is an experienced yoga teacher who has been exploring the connection between body, breath, and mind for many years. He is grateful to have learned from renowned teachers and incorporates the use of props to enhance the body-mind connection in yoga. With passion and compassion, Tin-Ming teaches various styles of yoga, empowering students to find a balance between discipline and playfulness and embrace their strengths. Since 2019, he has been organising yoga training to share his knowledge and teachings.
