ABOUT

Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures.

Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything.

Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward.

Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward.

When these terms are applied in yoga, Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer. It works on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga, in contrast, refers to a more active practice. This works on the (Yang) muscles and blood flow, building strength, stamina and flexibility. Yang styles of yoga are those with rhythm and repetition like most Hatha Yoga.
Rather than focusing on muscles like a classic yang yoga practice would, yin focuses on fascia, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, bones, and more. This emphasis on the “yin” tissues of the body means that the practice moves slowly and subtly to efficiently target these “deeper” parts of the physical form.

This 100-hour course is designed for experienced and aspiring yoga teachers and students who wish to improve their knowledge of Yin Yang Yoga – the quiet practice – and are keen to enhance their knowledge of the anatomical and energetic theories of yoga practice.

Yin Yang Yoga is ideal for people of most fitness levels who want to develop a relaxed, meditative practice or balance an intense exercise routine.

The practice allows you to slow down, relax, and turn inward, which helps alleviate stress and restore your energy levels.

**After completion of the training, students will receive a certificate from PURE.**

Almen Wong
Almen, the first Bikram-trained teacher in Hong Kong, introduced hot yoga to the city. She transformed from a strict teacher to one who embraces light-heartedness and fun, thanks to Baron Baptiste. Influenced by Paul Grilley and David Swenson, she developed a deep understanding of anatomy, Yin Yoga, and flexible Ashtanga Yoga practices. Her engaging classes emphasise alignment, foundational strength, and revisiting basics for advancing practice.
