20-Hour CET Functional Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners: The Science of Stretching & Strengthening with Sean & Vicky

6 - 14 June 2026 | Lincoln House – Quarry Bay

20-Hour CET Functional Anatomy for Yoga Practitioners: The Science of Stretching & Strengthening with Sean & Vicky

ABOUT

With over 200 muscles in the body it would be impossible to learn about each one.

Instead, what we have done, is curate a list of the major muscles for you.

The muscles included in this list play a crucial roll in your ability (or inability) to perform particular poses such as (but not limited to) arm balances, backbends or the splits.

First, we will teach you

  • Location of the muscles
  • Function of the muscles
  • The best drills to stretch them
  • The best drills to strengthen them

Once you have this basic anatomical understanding we will support you in applying it to your yoga practice.

By the end of this 20-hour training you will be able to, confidently, answer the following questions…

1.) How will stretching the (insert muscle name) impact my practice?

2.) How will strengthening the (insert muscle name) impact my practice?

These answers enable you to work smarter – rather than harder, to unlock new poses.

Now for the undeniably overlooked but arguably more important questions…

3.) How will stretching the (insert muscle name) impact my day to day life?

4.) How will strengthening the (insert muscle name) impact my day to day life?

Some things we do in yoga aren’t much fun but they are functional.

Some things are both fun and functional.

But there are some things we do in yoga (for example putting our legs behind our head) that are fun but probably not functional.

Whilst we don’t think that there is anything wrong with doing things “just for fun” in yoga – we do think it is important to know the difference.

By the end of the workshop you will also understand the science behind stretching and leave with a toolkit of different techniques to increase your range of motion.

Techniques will include…

  • Post Isometric Relaxation
  • PNF
  • Reciprocal Inhibition
  • Active versus Passive range
  • Gravity assisted versus Neutral verse Resisted

The afternoon session (2 – 5pm)
In the afternoon we will dissect, in detail, the muscles we targeted in the morning class and experiment with more drills to both stretch and strengthen them.

Sean Robinson

Originally advised to try yoga in 2014 to manage stress and heal from BMX-related injuries, Sean found a sense of stillness and challenge that resonated with him. He's been teaching in India, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong, with a focus on Ashtanga and Rocket Yoga. Drawing on his background as a Speech and Language Pathologist, Sean emphasises effective communication in his classes, deconstructing complex poses and empowering students to advance their practice through understanding the rationale behind techniques and poses.

Vicky Yang

Guided by many teachers, she adopted an intuitive, holistic approach to teaching. Vicky's inclusive, dynamic, and fun classes cater to individual needs and encourage students to explore their limits, aiming to increase mobility, strength, and inner peace.
