Mysore yoga is a distinctive style of yoga practice that originates from the city of Mysore in Karnataka, India. It is deeply rooted in the Ashtanga yoga tradition, which was popularized by the renowned yoga teacher K. Pattabhi Jois. Unlike conventional yoga classes where an instructor leads the group through the sequence, Mysore yoga is a self-paced practice that allows practitioners to move through a set series of postures at their own pace.

Saturday, November 23

8:30am – 10:30am Mysore (2 hours)
11:00am – 1:00pm Rotation Workshop : Patterns of Hips & Twists (2 hours)

 

This workshop will Explore key postures of the Ashtanga sequence that involve deep rotation at the joints of the hips and shoulders. The workshop will also focus on a conscious movement-based practice to improve articulation of the spine and mobility in the rib cage. Integrating the core principles and biomechanics of rotation leads to deeper comfort in all movement patterns.

8:30am – 10:30am Mysore (2 hours)
11:00am – 1:00pm Vinyasa workshop : Transitions & Arm Balances (2 hours)

 

In this workshop, we will focus on movement efficiency through the Ashtanga Yoga sequences. Ethan will dissect each movement, bring clarity of mind and mindfulness to allow for confident, controlled, and effective transitions between specified positions. Learning to move with strength and grace allows the practice to flow as one uninterrupted ritual – effectively becoming a moving meditation.
