Join us for a week of joyful yoga practice, deep restoration and honest connection by the sea. This intimate retreat blends strong and skilful practices, nourishing food, heavenly massages, cultural experiences and abundant time to simply be together as friends in paradise.

Guided by Amber and Joan – both experienced and compassionate teachers. You can expect thoughtful sequencing, clear instructions, precise hands-on adjustments and plenty of personal attention, whether you’re refining your practice or rediscovering it.

 

Inversion Immersion
Our inspired inversion immersion invites you to explore handstands, forearm balances and headstands. We build shoulder stability step by step through wall drills, props, partner work and playful flows that meet you exactly where you are. The focus is on curiosity and safety over performance, so you leave feeling stronger, more confident and far less afraid of going upside down. Suitable for all levels.

 

Deep Dive into Backbends
A dedicated session that combines intelligent heart-opening sequences with preparatory mobility for the hips, shoulders and spine. You’ll experience both active, empowering backbends and supported, soothing variations, so that your nervous system feels open yet grounded—never overstretched.

 

Thai Massage Workshop
You’ll learn simple hands-on techniques from Thai Certified Massage Therapist trainers. The purpose is learning how to ease tension in the back, hips and legs through paired practice, building trust and connection as you go. Outside workshop hours, you’ll have time to receive professional massages at the resort, allowing your body to fully absorb the benefits of each day’s practice.

 

Elephant Sanctuary Tour
An ethical elephant sanctuary tour brings you into gentle contact with these wise animals, offering a heartfelt reminder of compassion, presence and our relationship with nature.

 

Phuket Old Town Visit
Explore nostalgic architecture in Phuket Old Town, enjoy lunch in a charming restaurant converted from an ancient home, and wander the streets for photos and shopping.

 

Scrumptious Meals
Back at Amatara, fresh, flavoursome meals and vibrant Thai-inspired dishes nourish you from the inside out, with options to suit different dietary needs. We will also arrange meals outside the resort to enjoy beloved local delicacies.

 

Sangha — Friendship & Community
Shared practice, partner work, sunset conversations and unhurried breakfasts inspire genuine friendship to bloom. You will leave this retreat not only with a braver inversion, a softer spine, and a more relaxed body and mind — you’ll have acquired a circle of new friends and a renewed sense of belonging.

Joan Jolliffe

Joan was a design director before becoming a yoga teacher. Suffering from rheumatoid arthritis due to overworking and stress awakened her decision to redefine life’s priority. Joan left her corporate job in 2017 and started her first teacher training. Joan has been a true loyal PURE Yogini for over 20 years and is influenced by many great teachers including Yogananth Andiappan, Patrick Creelman, Jason Crandell, Edward Chau and also handstand master Miguel Santana. Joan feels blessed to teach at PURE, where she first started her practice.
