Miranda Leung
Miranda started yoga in 2013. In the beginning, she thought yoga was just a low-impact workout. After a couple years of practising as a member at PURE Yoga, she decided to start her first teacher training in 2017 and enhanced her knowledge in yoga. Miranda’s yogi path was inspired by an important teacher, Samrat Dasgupta. Under his encouragement, she attended a 300-hour teacher training with him in 2021 to progress exponentially in her yoga teacher journey.
Wai Wong
Former stunt performer, Ying Wai, began practising yoga in 2015 to increase flexibility and prevent injuries. As he discovered yoga's holistic benefits, he deepened his study under the guidance of Shirley Wong and Marcus Leung, also gaining inspiration from Dylan Werner's unique hand balancing techniques. Since completing his teacher training in 2016, Ying Wai has focused on providing a positive, enriching learning environment for his students, emphasising mindfulness, authentic self-acceptance, and the exploration of potential.
Adriana Sie
Adriana, originally a dentist from Indonesia, discovered yoga as a remedy for back issues. Adriana emphasises mindful practice over advanced poses, and her love for music often finds its way into her classes.
James Gannaban
James found yoga in Chiang Mai in 2015 at an over-stressed, mentally and physically unhealthy time in his life. Through yoga, James has learned to slow down, breathe, self-care, live in abundance, and be grateful. Yoga and a 12-step programme are the ingredients of his ongoing recovery and wellness journey. He describes his personal practice as envigorating, centring and transformational.
Joan Jolliffe
Joan was a design director before becoming a yoga teacher. Suffering from rheumatoid arthritis due to overworking and stress awakened her decision to redefine life’s priority. Joan left her corporate job in 2017 and started her first teacher training. Joan has been a true loyal PURE Yogini for over 20 years and is influenced by many great teachers including Yogananth Andiappan, Patrick Creelman, Jason Crandell and handstand master Miguel Santana. Joan feels blessed to teach at PURE, where she started practicing.
Marcel Erasmus
Marcel discovered yoga in 2012 while recovering from a skateboarding injury and it became a stabilising force in his life. To deepen his practice, he completed 200-hour teacher trainings in India and Hong Kong, and was influenced by Patrick Creelman and Noy Petchwikai's teachings. Drawing from various yoga styles, Marcel's classes range from inversions to Vinyasa flows and grounded Hatha. She has expanded into Pre- and Post-Natal Yoga, Birthlight Perinatal Yoga, Infant Massage, and Kid's Yoga. Known for her steady, calm, and approachable teaching style, Samantha encourages students to progress at their own pace, making classes a blend of work and play.
Raj Baskaran
Raj, a seasoned dancer, choreographer, and performer in Tamil and Telugu films, has been teaching dance for over 25 years. Inspired by Indian cinema icons Prabu Deva and Prem Rakshit, he honed his skills at the Kalas Kalalaya Dance Academy. He emphasises flexibility and personalised attention, ensuring his classes are fun-filled and exciting, with a focus on rhythm and expression.
Jennifa Chan
Jennifa discovered yoga while working in a demanding marketing role, and it became a transformative tool that brought balance and self-awareness into her life. Influenced by various teachers, she delved deeper into yoga philosophy, precise alignment, fluid sequencing, pranayam and meditation. Jennifa's classes balance challenge and relaxation, aiming to leave students feeling blissful, grounded, and inspired to connect with their heart and soul. She incorporates yoga philosophy into her teaching, emphasising its relevance both on and off the mat.
Suresh Munisamy
Suresh’s first yoga class from his teacher B.Dhinagarn helped his lower abdomen pain from a hernia. After winning competitions, his attention shifted to focusing on his health, perception and emotions.
Anna Fan
Anna began practising yoga to complement her training as a field hockey player and runner. The tranquillity she found in yoga led her to realise yoga as a holistic practice for the well-being of the body, mind and soul. Anna’s classes focus on cultivating students’ inner awareness through body movement, breath control and mind concentration. She hopes her students will leave the practice feeling more balanced in their bodies and more serene in their minds.
