ABOUT

Have you ever taught a yoga class and felt like something was missing?

Teaching yoga isn’t as effortless as some people think or as effortless as some people make it look.

Teaching yoga, and teaching it well, is a challenging yet deeply rewarding endeavour.
You might have attended multiple teacher trainings and gained a wealth of knowledge but found yourself unsure how to effectively put it into practice.

This is because more information alone isn’t always the answer. What you need is the skill, guidance, and support to bridge the gap between knowledge and application.

About the Training

This 60-hour Yoga Educator CET is designed to help you elevate your teaching skills and grow into the confident and competent yoga teacher you aspire to be.
Spanning three weekends, this comprehensive program, led by seasoned teachers Joan & Sean, will empower you to refine core aspects of your teaching through hands-on learning and in-depth practice.
The program focuses on four key areas critical to effective teaching – anatomy, sequencing, cueing, and organization – will be covered in detail.
Each module has a particular anatomical focus which guarantees optimal, in-depth learning.

What You’ll Learn,

Anatomy

To teach confidently and safely, you need a solid understanding of human anatomy. This module explores the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems while addressing anatomical variations and contraindications. Learn how these systems connect with yoga poses and how to adapt them for diverse body types and abilities. You’ll leave with a strong foundation that ensures your teaching is anatomy-informed.

Sequencing

If you are interested in crafting intelligent sequences that engage your students and advance their practice then this training is for you.

Great sequencing transforms an regular class into a meaningful experience – an experience that stays with your students long after the class ends.

You will learn the art and science of threading asanas, pranayama, and meditation into a purposeful and cohesive narrative, nothing is random.

Cueing

Communication is key to good teaching.

Cueing with precision and clarity will leave a lasting impact on your students.

Co-led by fluent English and Cantonese speakers, Joan & Sean will even cover bilingual verbal cueing techniques to serve diverse student base.

We will also extensively explore tactile cuing ( i.e. hands-on adjustment ) where we use various hand cues to guide our students in various asana.

Organization

Managing a yoga class or event requires strong organizational skills. Learn to structure your classes with cohesive themes, clear intentions, and thoughtful use of props.

Gain practical insights into time management, adapting to various levels of student and in creating a seamless flow that maximizes engagement and progression.

Joan Jolliffe
Joan was a design director before becoming a yoga teacher. Suffering from rheumatoid arthritis due to overworking and stress awakened her decision to redefine life’s priority. Joan left her corporate job in 2017 and started her first teacher training. Joan has been a true loyal PURE Yogini for over 20 years and is influenced by many great teachers including Yogananth Andiappan, Patrick Creelman, Jason Crandell and handstand master Miguel Santana. Joan feels blessed to teach at PURE, where she started practicing.
Sean Robinson
Originally advised to try yoga in 2014 to manage stress and heal from BMX-related injuries, Sean found a sense of stillness and challenge that resonated with him. He's been teaching in India, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong, with a focus on Ashtanga and Rocket Yoga. Drawing on his background as a Speech and Language Pathologist, Sean emphasises effective communication in his classes, deconstructing complex poses and empowering students to advance their practice through understanding the rationale behind techniques and poses.
