Supervised Mysore Assisting Programme

DESCRIPTION

A structured educational pathway for committed Ashtanga practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of the Mysore method, hands-on assisting skills, sequencing awareness and ethical adjustments under the guidance of PURE’s senior Ashtanga Mysore teachers.

This programme is designed as mentored experiential learning. Participants observe, practise and refine assisting skills in a live Mysore setting as part of their own professional development. Clayton Horton

Born in Oklahoma, US, Clayton is an experienced and internationally known KPJAYI Certified Ashtanga yoga instructor. Clayton studied with masters Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Greensufi for 14 years, both of whom gave him great inspiration to practise daily and develop a yogic lifestyle.

Nigel Marshall

Nigel, initially a student of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy and fitness enthusiast, discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 2001, recognising it as the transformational tool he was looking for. He has practised daily since then, learning from esteemed teachers like R. Sharath Jois and Alex Medin. Nigel began teaching in 2004, specialising in Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga, emphasising care, alignment, and individuality within a traditional framework. His goal is to help students uncover their potential in a safe, inspiring environment.

Connie Yan

Connie started yoga in 1999 and was later trained by Michel Besnard in Ashtanga yoga. She has also learned traditional Pranayama from Sri O.P. Tiwari, and honed her Ashtanga skills at the KPJAYI in Mysore, India. Connie believes in the balance of yin and yang and teaches traditional Ashtanga in Mysore style, alongside Yin yoga. She is also a Chinese Chiropractic Therapist.

Melissa Lau

Melissa's journey into yoga began with a life-changing trip to Bali in 2012, which led her to Ashtanga Yoga. Despite initially pursuing architecture, Melissa found her passion in yoga. Guided by mentors Dylan Bernstein and Clayton Horton, she went on to study with R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India and transitioned to a career in teaching yoga. Her classes emphasise intelligence in breath and movement. It brings her great joy when students leave the class feeling lighter, calmer, and warmer at heart.

Eng Eng Tio

Eng considers herself a realist and pragmatist. She understands that, like herself, students have families and job commitments, facing challenges of varying degrees. She has the utmost respect for people who carve out time from their busy lives and are dedicated to a sincere yoga practice. Her approach to teaching is therefore supportive, patient and light. Much care and consideration is given to the individual's strength and limitations, making safety the first priority.
