ABOUT

This Yin Yoga Teacher Training is a comprehensive study programme designed for teachers and practitioners interested in understanding the essential theory behind Yin Yoga, including the groundbreaking anatomic theory behind skeletal variation, the functional approach to yoga, Taoist philosophy and the energetic principles rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Each day will begin with an experiential Yin Yoga practice, allowing students to immerse themselves fully in this holistic practice whilst offering insights into the various ways to theme and sequence a Yin Yoga class. We will dive deep into the fundamentals of TCM, Meridian Theory and how to harmonise the flow of Qi in the body, inviting us to explore the deeper layers of this slow, subtle, yet profound practice.

In the functional anatomy component of this training, we will study bone morphology, particularly looking at skeletal variation of the hips. Interactive anatomy labs will be set up for students to carry out range-of-motion tests to analyse anatomical variations and individual biomechanics. From there, we will unpack Paul Grilley’s 14-10-7 method and learn how to apply a functional approach to our Yin Yoga practice, helping to make yoga safer, more effective, and inclusive for all.

To support the theoretical lectures and discussions, teaching labs will provide the opportunity to skilfully apply these functional principles into practising and teaching individualised yoga. This is a highly engaging, educational, and thought-provoking training that will not only deepen your appreciation for Yin Yoga, but also change the way you practise and teach forever – leaving you with a thirst to understand even more about human variation and how it applies to all styles of yoga. Graduates of this Yin Yoga teacher training will leave with the knowledge and skills to sequence and teach a thoughtful and competent functional Yin Yoga class to all levels.

This training will include:
– Yin Yoga Theory & Practice
– Meridian Theory (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
– Applied Yoga Anatomy (Hips)

Amarjit Kumar

Amarjit began his yoga journey at the age of 10 and has since accumulated in-depth knowledge and practical experiences in yoga practice. In his pursuit of yogic excellence, he started studying authentic yoga as a youth and devoted himself to its continuous practice both in spirit and in form. He has been recognised for his talent and has won numerous national and provincial yoga championships in India.

Under the guidance of his teacher Prabir Karmakar in yoga training and having been deeply inspired by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati at the Bihar School of Yoga, Amarjit wanted to impart and share his feelings of yoga with more people around the world. He first began his yoga teaching career in 2002 in India, later moving to Bangkok in 2005 and then Hong Kong in 2007. He displays his passion for yoga philosophy as a way of life and translates the traditional essence and concepts of yoga into practical application and body-mind enhancement in today’s world.

Amarjit believes that perfection comes from keen awareness and genuine practice. His classes will allow you to learn more about your body as well as to develop self-confidence with mental balance and stability. His focus is on the harmonious flow of the body, breath and mind – to co-ordinate bodily movements and postures with proper breathing as well as physical alignment in a systematic and scientific way, resulting in blissful moments for practitioners of all levels.
